A Rural ICT Development Policy

It is important that the local governments are involved in ensuring that there is an ICT policy in their LGs. They can do this by;

  • Local governments should ensure the provision of basic ICT facilities for communities within their jurisdiction. With the usually small population of most local communities, even a couple of computers can meet their ICT needs.
  • Local governments and private organizations can also partner to provide ICT Centres (which can utilize the wireless internet services provided by telecoms companies) for rural communities.
