Exercise Your Heart For a Longer, Better Life
In addition to eating a balanced, healthy diet, you also need to exercise to stay healthy. Your heart is a muscle and you need to exercise it to keep it strong, just like any other muscle in your body.

Exercises that help your heart are called aerobic exercises. Aerobic exercise can help you:

  • Keep your heart in shape
  • Lose weight
  • Reduce stress
  • Prevent disease
  • Keep from getting sick
  • Live longer

You don't need an expensive gym membership to get the exercise you need. Walking is free and easy to fit into your schedule. Walk at a nice speed for at least a half an hour every day. Walk to the shops if they are nearby, or get off the bus or taxi before your stop and walk the rest of the way home.

Playing sport or dancing is also a great way to get your heart going and have a good time. Find something you like to do and try to do it 3 to 5 times a week for at least half an hour.
